Always great.
Great food, great service and a perfect atmosphere. I would love to come back
a successful evening with perfect food. Service very friendly and attentive.
Delicious food, great service, we felt completely at ease. We recommend.
Mega delicious. Everything freshly prepared and very polite!
Seldom eaten so bad. We had to wait about 1.5 hours for the food. In advance, one is dealt with with bread and oil. The food (4 people) also came with a significant delay, so that it was not possible to eat at the same time. The meat (pork tenderloin) was very dry in 2 dishes. The cucumber salad tasted like nothing and the potatoes were apparently drowned in butter for hours. It's a shame if you can eat better at home.
A really cute restaurant run with a lot of heart with a wonderful outdoor area. Super delicious food made from fresh ingredients, personally cooked by the boss. Good advice from the attentive, always good-humored boss about food and the right drinks. Thank you !!!! We will be back definitely!
Great restaurant in the beautiful old town of Unkel. Despite the historical construction, largely barrier-free, very attentive and polite staff, lots of goodies from the starter to the main course to the desserts. Not to forget a decent selection of wines, spirits, etc. Many specialties are homemade, and the hosts have obviously found their calling. My wife and I were there for the first time today, but certainly not for the last time.
The tastefully designed inner courtyard combined with the excellent kitchen make your visit a real experience. The service is top notch. We would like to come again.
The food was delicious! The ambience (we sat in the garden) was beautiful. The manager of the house was very attentive to reading our every wish from our lips. Bring time with you when you go there. The cook (boss) prepares everything a la minute and it takes a little longer, but it's worth it. You can watch him at work in his outdoor kitchen. Everything is prepared with a lot of love. As a small greeting from the kitchen, you get freshly baked bread, different sorts that you can eat with homemade oils, salt and pepper. A dream! It was really great there and the love that the small family puts in their restaurant is evident in the service, in the food and in the garden! Great!!! I love that when someone has so much passion for something.
Very, very nice atmosphere, very, very attentive service ...... the food is simply a dream, there is absolutely nothing to complain about. Top address .....
A gem in Unkel. Very nice, nice + friendly host people. Just had a drink. So we can't give any information about the quality of the food.
The guest is very friendly in the foreground. Eat delicious. Everything itself and freshly prepared. Here you should and should take your time and enjoy yourself. A very nice evening.
A hidden gem with a cozy atmosphere! A small but fine menu, very nice service. The food is of very high quality and tasty.
Very nice landlords, great, tasty and very appetizing plates and a wonderful beer garden to relax. The restaurant inside is also very comfortably furnished. Just a nice place to have a good time. RECOMMENDED !!! ??
Super delicious food, great service! We felt very welcome and in good hands all around!
Super delicious food. Great service and very nice and courteous service. We would love to come back!
Clear recommendation! Everything was super delicious, meat was cooked to the point. We will be back definitely!
Stayed here with five adults and a baby. The food was excellent, four different types of bread were served at the beginning, with delicious olive oil. Main courses tasted excellent. There was even delicious fish. We were served attentively and came happily and happily. The ambience was also very nice and there was even the Ikeakinderstuhl practical for babies. We would love to come back.
What a great place! We came here to celebrate what would have been our wedding weekend if it weren't for coronavirus. It was a beautiful spot with a lovely back garden for dining. The food was truly incredible -- from three kinds of homemade bread and olive oils, to the delicious wild boar and local fish, to the cake, and even the schnapps from oma to conclude the meal. Aside from the food, the family that runs the restaurant is very kind and very friendly. Frau Bartolo herself was the server and she showed us such kindness by offering a small gift in honor of our would-have-been wedding. Thank you for a memorable evening!
Fra Bartolo is a quaint restaurant with a cozy unique atmosphere. All of the food is delicious. It's impossible to go wrong from fresh made bread to appetizers to entrees to dessert. We have had great service. If you're ever unsure what is good or what you should try simply ask and they will find something you will love. You can also swing by and simply grab some ice cream for take away. The chili dark chocolate is a great choice to get you started.
Beautiful place, very tasty food! Kind people!
We arrived in Berlin on a Friday and for three days unremarkably dined our way through Berlin and numerous villages like Rothenburg and Bacharach, then followed the Rhine north to a small community of Rheinbreitbach on the east side of the river, just South of Bonn. We had avoided the American fast food invasion of McDonald’s, KFC and Burger King, only by succumbing to ill-prepared pizza and enduring the abundant but dreaded currywurst. Seeking culinary redemption that did not involve the Germanic cliche of processed, pre-frozen schnitzel (at times smothered in what can be considered a questionable gravy/sauce) and fries (pomme frittes), we searched Google and Yelp for alternatives. That search produced limited choices, yet we found a glimmer of hope in an establishment called “Frau Bartolo’s”. Walking down the classic Bavarian cobblestone path, moistened by fresh rain and autumn’s fallen leaves, we entered the warm small, intimate atmosphere of Frau Bartolo’s and were greeted by a charming hostess, with strains of German music softly playing in the background. A hand written menu provided the hope of authentic and unique cuisine, which was followed by an apology that it was only in German. We assured our hostess we were up for the challenge. The small room glowed with candlelight, the murmurs of other diners did not overwhelm the grandfather clock in the corner announcing the passing of time. What followed was a delightful evening of pleasing dishes, complete with an thickly accented narrative provided by our lovely and helpful hostess. Each course was freshly prepared, from the three different home-baked breads made that morning and compound olive oils, to the artfully crafted salads, and the meats which rivaled the best establishments of any of our European tours. The meal was a leisurely repose from our busy travel schedule, and it was a welcome respite. After the meal, still entranced in this dining experience, we said our goodbyes and inquired, “Who is Frau Bartolo?” Quite surprisingly, we discovered it was our helpful and unassuming hostess! If you happen to be passing through the Rhine River Valley between Bonn and Koblenz, do not deny yourself the pleasure of a meal and the charm of Frau Bartolo.
